Dino Beach, Shanghai
Dino Beach was an existing 10 hectare water park located on Shanghai’s outer ring road. In 2007, it was one of the busiest in the world with over 600,000 annual visits, peaking at 15,000 visitors in a single day. The client wished to extend the park by 6 hectares to increase capacity and create a new and unique year-round offer, differentiating it from its competitors.
Venture Xtreme Consultancy was brought in to advise on the new offer and masterplan a new layout. Venture Xtreme came up with a unique facilities mix including a climbing tower; high ropes course; WaveRider; canyoning circuit; scuba diving and snorkelling lagoons; white water surf river; a wave pool; 10 additional water slides and numerous beaches and relaxation areas. This unique mix was approved by the client during a site visit in the spring 2008. The next stage was to produce a masterplan for the extension site which was completed by Venture Xtreme in association with the Spanish company Amusement Logic (introduced to the project by VX). The plan was approved in November 2008 and ongoing work for Venture Xtreme included providing operational and management advice, particularly in relation to equipment and staff training, and charging policies.
