Venture Xtreme is a cultural and lifestyle destination venue, which has a unique ability to mix user participation with spectator attraction. It is a multi sport and retail complex on an unprecedented scale; a world first and as a major show case for the many extreme sports presented, it is the UK’s first National Extreme Sports Centre.
With over 20 adventure sports under one roof, supported by a range of specialist retail shops, bars, restaurants and hotel accommodation, Venture Xtreme will be like no other venue ever conceived. It offers something for everyone; the spectator and the participant whether, novice, dedicated enthusiast or elite performer.
Venture Xtreme will be hosted in an iconic building of over half a million square feet on a 12 acre landscaped site. It includes world-class facilities for climbing, caving, diving, canoeing, rafting, ice climbing, mountain biking, high rope activities and a host of other adventure sports. Venture Xtreme acts as a teaching venue, holiday centre, information hub and the UK’s premier destination for ‘trying and buying’ all adventure sports equipment. It is a unique gateway to a world of active leisure and adventure.
“Venture Xtreme is far more than an extreme sports centre though — it’s a cultural lifestyle destination”
The world of extreme sports, also commonly called adventure sports or lifestyle sports, is growing at an almost unbelievable rate.
The Times in 2003[1] reported that “this ever growing world of extreme sports enthusiasts represents a global market worth in excess of £6 billion.” Growth is occurring at a bewildering speed in all sectors fuelling associated growth in the fashion industry and tourism.

The Times in 2003[1] reported that “this ever growing world of extreme sports enthusiasts represents a global market worth in excess of £6 billion.” Growth is occurring at a bewildering speed in all sectors fuelling associated growth in the fashion industry and tourism.
In the 1990's, climbing was one of the country's fastest growing sports, now it is surfing that is taking over amongst both women and men in their 30s and 40s, while canoeing is fast closing on angling as the most popular form of inland water sport in the UK.
“5.8 million people in the UK have expressed an interest in trying out an extreme sport. 50% of the population are currently active participants in outdoor activities. [2]“
Demand is considerably outstripping supply, this recently illustrated by an outline market assessment comissioned by North Yorkshire County Council on Transforming Outdoor Adventure [3], which confirms “there is considerable latent demand across the country for a wide range of adventure activities.”
Venture Xtreme is being created as a response to the exponential growing demand in the market of people wanting to try and be involved in adventure sports.
Venture Extreme - the first site
