Venture Xtreme is headed by Managing Director and founder Steve Jones, backed by fellow Director David Taylor. The company with its strong mix of sports, commercial, property and funding expertise, will bring forward projects from conception and initial feasibility through to design, development and operation.
Steve Jones
Steve is the UK’s leading extreme sports expert and is the Managing Director of Venture Xtreme. He has over 25 years experience in the world of adventure sport in senior roles from instructing, to manufacturing and project management. Steve created the UK’s biggest company building climbing walls, caves, ice walls and other extreme sports equipment. He has directly managed numerous extreme sports projects including the installation of many of the biggest adventure sports facilities in the world.
Steve also acts as a consultant in extreme sports, helping and advising other companies that want to include extreme sports in their facilities mix in the UK and internationally. To date Steve has worked on over 30 projects around the world giving him unrivalled experience in this area.
Steve continues to be active in a wide range of extreme sports including sailing, diving, climbing, canyoning and caving. He has made three TV documentaries recording his adventures in every corner of the planet. Steve has an enviable track record of successfully leading teams both on international expeditions and in business.
David Taylor
David is one of Europe’s leading regeneration specialists and his career has taken in major roles in the public and private sectors. He studied architecture and planning at Dundee University, before doing his RIBA part 2 and post-graduate planning at the Architectural Association in London. Following on from that he acted as Special Advisor to John Prescott MP in his role as Shadow Spokesman for the regions transport and employment.
David helped found Lancashire Enterprises Ltd a pioneering local authority company from 1983-1989. He was then recruited by Europe’s largest construction and development group AMEC plc as Chief Executive of a new subsidiary AMEC Regeneration. Following on from this he was recruited to head up English Partnerships a new national regeneration agency and he worked there from1993-1996.
In 2000 he set up DTP Limited, which is currently responsible for high profile projects with an end value in excess of £3 billion. David’s other current involvements are Chairman of the housing pathfinder in East Lancashire (Elevate) and Deputy Chairman of Preston North End Plc. He also chaired the government’s Urban Regeneration Company in Hull for 6 years up until the summer of 2008. Most recently David has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Olympic Development Agency (ODA).
